WILLIAMSBURG AREA
The Williamsburg Lodge is designed to allow the perfect blend of work, rest and recreation.  Work in meeting facilities designed to compliment any conference, rest in comfortable guestrooms decorated with an American folk art theme, and enjoy an amazing array of recreational opportunities in the immediate area.  The Williamsburg Lodge offers a complete fitness center, indoor and outdoor pools, and massage therapy.  The award-winning Golden Horseshoe Golf Courses offer 45 holes of championship golf (the Lodge will be happy to help you decide which of the three courses would be the best for you!)  There are tennis courts with resident tennis professionals who offer complimentary clinics to guests.  There is lawn bowling, badminton, table tennis, a putting green, horseshoes, miniature golf, biking, jogging courses, and much more.

If this is not enough, step out of the Lodge and into Historic Williamsburg, 173 acres of  “Living History”. This recreated 18th century town of Williamsburg has homes and trade sites restored or rebuilt as accurately as possible, using existing foundations and appropriate materials. From 1699 to 1780 Williamsburg was the capital of the colony of Virginia.  Here Thomas Jefferson studied law, and later he, George Washington and Patrick Henry plotted America’s freedom. Visit with tradespeople and town folk as they go about their 18th century day making shoes, furniture, buckets and clothes while catching up on the latest gossip or political news.  You could bump into Thomas Jefferson, Martha Washington or Patrick Henry and get to know them.  Watch as the British army marches through town or fall into ranks and see what it’s like to drill with the American militia.  Even the animals are true to the 18th century. Spend the day walking through the pages of an American history book.

For more information about the area you can call the Williamsburg Visitors Bureau at  (800) 368-6511 or visit their web site: www.visitwilliamsburg.com.  You can fax them at (757) 253-1397 or write to them at P.O. Box 3585, Williamsburg, VA 23187
